Art: A Contrast in Styles

We had several different arts and crafts sessions while the McShorties visited me last month. I love offering up the kitchen table to masterpiece creation! This first session was a pre-breakfast attempt while we let the parents sleep in. Despite the array of supplies, we picked paint.
Mister has been much more engaged in drawing, cutting, gluing, painting, etc. than Little Miss in my experience, so I was delighted when she joined in. It was soon revealed however, that they have very different approaches. In his painting, Mister was super careful, concentrating, and imaginative with his furry sea creature. He like to paint "things."
Little Miss was a little more "go for it" in spirit, letting the image develop through action. She is what we call a process painter!
There were other art sessions, including the last one, where for some reason, the adults let them to their own devices for quite some time. This is what the kitchen looked like "after."
But it was worth it! Both kids created a "secret" project without any help from us. Miss used color, Mister went for the more fully realized maraca. I was informed that it was "really hard" to paint a cup.
