Granddad had a great idea for this trip and brought along the family bamboo fishing rod. (The same one that More Granddad had taught Auntie Short to fish with on Lake Kellogg many years ago).
"What is that?"
Granddad is an excellent teacher, and patiently showed the McShorties the bobber, weight, hook, and bait (leftover ham for those fishing enthusists out there--it was all we had).
Ok, here we go. Lower the line down gently. You've got to have some patience with fishing and wait for a nibble.
BAM! Before the words were out of his mouth and within literal contact of the line with the water, a strike! And a fish!
Hee hee, Mama doesn't even know that there is a nibble on her line. Actually, Mama caught a lot (of underwater brambles).
